PWR's Vision

"Working to End Domestic Violence"

Preston Women’s Refuge adopted a vision statement in November 2004. Obviously we recognise that we cannot work to end domestic violence on our own and so this vision will only be able to be worked towards in collaboration with all of the other agencies that deal with domestic violence. Also this is very much a long term vision but surely one that we should all have. Specifically as an organisation we are working with women to end the domestic violence that they are experiencing.

Mission Statement

"Preston Women's Refuge exists to provide women who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence, with a range of quality services which enable them to make informed decisions about their future whilst at the same time raising awareness of domestic violence."

Strategic objectives

To provide a 24 hour domestic violence helpline
To provide safe, emergency and temporary accommodation for women and children made homeless as a result of fleeing domestic violence
To offer emotional support and practical assistance to women to enable them to make informed decisions about their own and their children's future
To provide a range of other services to support women and children who are or have been experiencing domestic violence
To provide some support to male victims
To encourage and support women using any of Preston Women's Refuge services and their involvement in the management and development of those services
To ensure domestic violence is kept in the public domain
To provide training to raise awareness of the impact of domestic violence and to provide a better understanding of the services provided by Preston Women's Refuge
