Safe Temporary Accommodation

The Refuges are accessible 24 hours a day and 365 days a year via the Domestic Violence Helpline. Women can self refer or come via an agency such as the Police, Housing, Social Services, Health professionals. PWR has a good working relationship with all of these statutory agencies.

Preston Women's Refuge endeavours to make the accommodation comfortable, well maintained and secure. This proves to be quite a challenge with the large turnover of families. However the women are encouraged to manage the running and upkeep of the household and regular house meetings are held to ensure the co-operation of all residents.

All women sign a licence agreement when they arrive at the refuge, which contains rules around safety and non-discriminatory behaviours.
