Helpline
The Domestic Violence Helpline Service is often a vital lifeline for women who are experiencing violence and/or abuse. The Helpline can be the first step to seeking appropriate information and specialist support services or it may be the last of many. Women are listened to, offered choices, information and follow-up services if applicable. The service now operates on a 24-hour basis, every day of the year. It is the main way of accessing PWR's services as well as providing a listening ear, support and advice to women.
What the Helpline provides:
- Someone to listen to you – the Helpline is confidential and non-judgemental
- Information about your options
- Access to a safe place to stay
- Referrals to other Preston Women's Refuge services
- Information about support available from other organisations
- Information about how to get specialist legal or housing advice if you need it
- We do not offer a formal counselling service, but can give you details of places that do
- You do not have to ring us because you have decided to do something. Sometimes it can help just to be able to talk to someone. We can offer you the time to do this
