Volunteering
Volunteers play a crucial role at Preston Women's Refuge. We are always looking for more volunteers to assist us with our work. For example, our Helpline could not function without volunteers . We have a volunteer's leaflet and volunteer's brochure which gives lots of detail about volunteering with PWR. An application form is included in the volunteer's brochure.
Our volunteers go through a formal selection process and are trained in Domestic Violence Awareness and Listening Skills to the same level as paid staff. In addition, through training and support our volunteers can progress onto other roles.
Following the opening of the HOPE Centre we introduced some new roles to the volunteering programme. As well as the Domestic Violence Helpline Worker we also now have HOPE Centre Support Workers, Skills Sharing Workers and Counsellors.
Our volunteers are from a variety of backgrounds and bring a wealth of experience to our organisation. We would like to extend a special 'Thank You' to all our tireless volunteers.
